The Presbyterian Church of East Africa dates back in 1891 when directors of Imperial British East Africa Chartered Company, among them Sir William Mackinon and Mr. A. L. The General Assembly is the supreme governing body of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa. It is represents all individual congregations and oversees the various councils and committees that deal with the day-to-day running of the various aspects of church life. Click here for more.
The senior figure of the General Assembly is the Moderator. This is an elected post and changes after three years. The Assembly consists of: all ministers, including retired ministers, and a representative elder from each Parish. Delegates from sister churches can be invited and may speak but they have no vote. Several Presbyteries within a give geographical boundaries join together to form a Region. The members of the Region Assembly are the current current officer of every constitunent Presbytery within a region. Learn More about our Regional Assemblies.

A parish can be a single or a group of congregation. The kirk_Session is responsible for matters of doctrine, government, discipline and worship. Kirk sessions oversee the local congregation and its parish, and consist of elders presided over by a minister. Visit our parish Directory Here.
